Tuesday's Tribute....Imagine "Alexis" a Missionary!

Last Wednesday, my sister entered The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, MTC (Missionary Training Center). She will be there for 3 weeks before going to her area, which is Salt Lake City, Temple Square.
I still can't believe my "baby" sister is on a mission. Where has the time gone? She was just 5...and now..21?! It was such a sweet experience to see her so happy to be starting a 18 month dream/goal she had. The twinkle in her eye and the grin on her face continued until we said goodbye (it was described as a "band aid" effect...ouch it was)! Being with my family did help with the sting (and maybe going to Brick Oven Pizza..hehe).

Her work began quickly and with no time to spare.
Training for 3 weeks and then off to share,
for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints,
a message for all to hear.
Now she is "Green," a newbie, as they say,
Full of love for the gospel...to be talked about everyday.
Her desire, motivation, and love for the Lord,
Inspired her in every way!
My tribute to a beautiful, and sweet sister. How proud and grateful I am to have her example in my life. I Love you Alexis.

Gosh, I'm so proud of her. I can feel the effects of the blessings in my life already from her serving a mission. For that, I will always be grateful for her sacrifice.

Good for Alexis! What time was her orientation? My brother was supposed to go at 11:30, but was horribly sick and couldn't go until the following day. We probably would have seen you there... Missionaries are such a great blessing!

I've always thought it would be fun to serve a mission in Temple Square. There is so much church history there. Hope she has a wonderful 18 months!

What a wonderful tribute to your sister Melanie! You helped make that goodbye at the MTC much better for all of us. I know she is in the Lord's hands and I am convinced we will all realize blessings from this. Thank you so much for being our "bed and breakfast" again. Thank you for being such a special part of all of this!! Love you!!!

First of all she is beautiful! I think she is doing an amazing thing! Look how sweet she is with her entire life packed up in a few bags willing to give to others. I will have to visit her!

This will be the time of her life (at least to this point) -- and what a great place to serve. A very special opportunity.

The goodbyes are hard, but the sacrifice is worth it.

I miss her tons! But she is going to rock! Does she know yet where she is serving her out-of-temple-square months at?
