~Ode to the Blue Bowl~
When I was a child, my father had a "orangie red, DO NOT TOUCH" bowl. I couldn't be sneaky either. He had eyes in the back of his head! So, somehow I acquired this blue replica and have the same fondness for it as he did. Tragic? Odd? Did I let him eat out of it last week? YES!

That is a spectacular bowl!
I'm getting hungry for cereal just looking at it.
Ahh, fun post. Great bowl too! and sweet story to go with it!
Neat that you picked up the same OCDish behavior about a bowl. And a beautiful bowl at that. :)
ha ha - I'm that way with a tea mug!!
Whitney now has our family's navy blue bowl it is 70 years old my parents received it for a wedding gift in 1938.Growing up she ate her noodles in it every day a couple of months ago she asked if she could have it and I gave it to her.
I also remember Dad's fondness for crushing his Wheaties in that honkin' bowl to make his mush. Funny stuff...these memories.
Nice bowl and a nice story to go with it. I did smile at the end of it. :)
So sweet.
I totally get it. It is beautiful, and has character, and history. I would treasure it too.
My husband would say. It's a bowl. Use it already. He's right too.
It's one of the mysteries of life, all wrapped up in a blue bowl. To treasure and protect, and to freely give to others without worry of loss.
Sheesh, I'm weird today.
i was going to say it was a male thing until i saw you had your own "do not touch" bowl. my husband's is a less classy version. it's a giant, plastic tupperware (or maybe even fake tupperware) bowl that he eats his fruity pebbles out of. he is very possessive of it and gets mad when he discovers its been used.
Love the story!Im the same as Tiara with the tea mug.LOL
Fabulous bowl! I have a few pieces I like too.
Oh my gosh, my Grandmother had a bowl and then my mother had it and Whitney finally talked her out of it so now we have it. It is like your bowl only a darker blue. Goodness I thought we were the only ones.
That looks like the blue bowl from the pyrex mixing bowl set??
I had a glass mug from the SD zoo that was mine, all mine....when my husband accidental broke it while doing dishes I had to pretend not to be sad over losing a mug. But I was bummed about it.
You got to have your favorites!
Oh my dad was the same way...his special bowl was a white one with red roosters around the top. It was huge...it was his night time snacking bowl...he'd fill it with Wheaties every night. And naturally expected it to be washed for the next night's nighttime snack.
Love this entry. Brought back a memory long hidden.
What a funny little tradition to sorta pass down...but I so wouldn't have let him use the bowl lol...Paybacks DAD!
How funny. That is a perfect snow cream bowl!
