Grandpa....I Love you...

For the Love of Grandpa Budd C. Argyle...

I am so grateful my children had the opportunity to know their Great~Grandpa. They love him so.
My feelings are very raw, and overwhelming. I lost a wonderful Grandfather, but most importantly, my Mother lost her Father. She was by his side as he passed this evening. My prayer is for her and her siblings as they go through the process of grief. I am so blessed to have an understanding that this life is but a moment. For we have eternity. It does not take the sting away, just a comforting blanket. One I need and want wrapped around me right now.

Thank you for posting this. I'm going to have a rough day myself. I start by talking to my seminary class about one of our classmates who died in a car accident and I end with my testimony of how I know where she is and where my grandpa is. It's all surreal...very real.

There is a generation of the LDS Church who will automatically think of President Hinckely when they think of the Office of Prophet, because he was Prophet for so much of their lives, and had such an impact in shaping their spirits and testimony. Similarly, that's how Bishop Argyle is to a generation of LDS youth who grew up in Gilroy, CA. (He was Bishop during my entire Aaronic Priesthood years -- from ages 12 - 19.) And I think it is safe to say that no one had more love for the youth than Bishop Argyle. And so it is impossible for me to think of the Office of Bishop without seeing Bishop Argyle's smiley face, or remembering how he was always ready with a kind word and a hug, or thinking about his quick sense of humor which would immediately force me into a better mood. Simply put, his love endeared us to him. When I was growing up, I wanted to be like Bishop Argyle. And I still do. I count Bishop Argyle, (along side my own father), among the great men in my life who have helped to shape my spirit and testimony, by example, sacrifice, service, and love. I think I speak for all the youth during his tenure as Bishop, when I say that we loved our Bishop dearly. He will always be Bishop to us.

We have missed that "aw-shucks" smile. Luckily our last 3 children received their Pat. Blessing from Bud. We can just imagine that smile now as he re-unions with all of his loved ones. Our prayers and love go out to you and your family. Mike and Dawn Walters, Hollister, CA

We are sadden at his passing but I am sure he wanted to be at Fays side. He was a roll model of truely loving husband. The kind of man we should all seek to be.
Our hugs and prayers go out to his family.

Budd Argyle was the best. My father served with him during his time as Bishop, and I have nothing but pleasant warm memories of Budd. While I definitely wasn't the most traditional youth in my choice of haircut or what I wore, he never gave me a hard time about it. He was able to look within to find the true character.
